Collusion at the FBI

If true, it will be the political irony to end all political ironies. After being bombarded with news about the Trump campaign’s supposed collusion with the Russians, it now seems possible that officers at the highest levels of the FBI were conspiring to undermine the Trump campaign. If that failed, they formed a secret society to delegitimize the Trump presidency. For those who have been invoking our precious, sacred democracy it will be amusing if it turns out that leading progressives in the FBI were doing precisely what they were accusing the Trump team of doing.

As for the current director of the FBI, his handling of the situation has been pathetically weak. The same seems true of the Trump Justice Department.

Rather than hear all about it from me, we can turn to Tucker Carlson’s interview last night with Joseph Di Genova. We could not find a better informed lawyer to shed some light on the circumstances.

The final comment about Comey is fascinating. Yesterday's WSJ Editorial Board penned an op-ed about Comey's upcoming "ethical leadership" class at Wm and Mary. Hilarious, terrifying, and worth reading. A brief historical excerpt:

"Week Three: FBI director Robert Mueller and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York are convinced that the man behind the 2001 anthrax mail attacks is a government virologist. They spend years pursuing him and destroying his reputation through the media, only to concede years later that they had fingered the wrong man. Students will examine the ethics of trial-by-media and the risks to the fair administration of justice from prosecutors who ignore contrary evidence."

Cliven Bundy is laughing his a** off. Vicki Weaver is still dead and was unavailable for comment.

"If true..." I suspect it's true, and far, far worse than we know.

"If it can be abused, it will be abused". That is just part of human nature. All forms of government are susceptible to abuse, even democracies. Democracies by their nature need a vigilant, informed, and involved electorate. Of course to be informed the electorate needs an excellent and independent press. We are seeing the lack of the former three and latter two. In the end the responsibility for all of this lies with us. This is not to suggest a surrender, but rather a realization of what our part is in all of this.

So this is the "proof" a secret society, a text message. I hope they have something better than this to defend the conspiracy. The suggestion seems to be Hanlon's razor is the real play for people who see behind the curtain.

The “secret society” text message was sent from FBI lawyer Lisa Page to former FBI counterintelligence Deputy Assistant director Peter Strzok.

There seems to have been no other contextual messages exchanged before or afterwards. And, in its entirety, he message reads:

Are you even going to give out your calendars? Seems kind of depressing. Maybe it should just be the first meeting of the secret society.

Ares Olympus, you are an idiot. A dolt. A partisan hack. A schill. Pure and simple.

Your comments here have been unfortunate. This comment is downright dangerous.

You care nothing for the rights of people, their due process, their liberty. You are a rogue internet troll.

The FBI, DOJ and IRS are the most intrusive agencies in the Federal government. They can ruin people. When acting in concert, with the direction of your Chicago thug Obama and his henchmen, they become weaponized to silence the opposition. They used a #%$&ing FISA warrant to surveill the presidential candidate of an opposition party. This is Stasi stuff.

Try Occam’s Razor, you pseudo-intellectual.

By the way, why does Robert Mueller perpetually look like he had his wisdom teeth taken out?

Are Russian oral surgeons influencing him?

IAC, I try to not name-call, except against bullies with power, but never fear I can take it from others. I'm just not sure what to do with it. I just feel sympathy for your plight. Is that what I should feel?

Yes, Occam’s Razor works here too - stupid (as you call me) is more frequent than malevolent, while greed, vanity and other vices helps strengthen both.

As near as I can figure, we merely see different risks in our world. We trust different people as honorable.
